“The doctors have said that it's probably just something I have to learn to live with, as it has become a chronic condition.”
Lasse is 32 years old. In 2013, he was on holiday in Thailand, where he was struck by diarrhoea. Most people have probably experienced this on a holiday to, for example, Thailand. But for Lasse Kaltoft, it continued after finishing antibiotic treatment, and he was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome. Today - eight years after his holiday - he is still not cured.
"This is expressed in the fact that my stool consistency fluctuates a lot, and it is especially in the morning that I often have to go to the toilet several times. As it is now, it is something I have to live with, as the doctors have no more treatment options to try."
He has been treated with antibiotics and by having healthy teeth inserted.
bacterial cultures in the colon, but this has only worked to a very limited extent and most often for short periods.
Optimize your body
Unseen Bio is a new company in Denmark that, following the American model, can analyze and map the bacteria in your gut, and tell you about the state of your gut health. Many people are not aware that the gut can tell you a lot about how your lifestyle affects you.
This way, you can optimize your body by turning on some very specific buttons. Lasse Kaltoft has had his bacterial composition analyzed twice over the past year and received a customized mapping of his gut microbiome. This way, he can find out if there are opportunities to improve his condition with irritable bowel syndrome.
“It was super interesting for me to find out which specific gut microbiomes are causing the problems in my gut flora. Right now there's not much you can do about it, but in the long run, it could be really useful. At least it was also nice to find out that I'm not doing anything more serious.”
